56 West Smithfield is a friendly and cosy, urban wine bar and lounge in the City of London, where you can discover award-winning wines from a community of small-scale, independent wine-makers – directly from our vineyards to your glass.
Our carefully selected, organic and hand-crafted wines reflect a focus on quality over quantity, as well as distinctive winemaker styles.

Cave Prices in The City
Exceptional wine doesn’t have to be expensive. What’s special about 56WS is that we’re our own importers, which means we can offer great value by avoiding costly intermediaries. All of the wines at the shop are sold at their original, local winery prices, and we only charge a £5 corkage fee for those enjoyed at the bar.
Join the club
Events
Alongside our wonderful selection of wines, we’ll be inviting our community of winemakers to host regular tasting events, held in our traditional tasting room – invitations will be sent to all Friends of 56WS for priority booking.
The tasting room can also be booked for private events.
