About us
56 West Smithfield was founded by a family of winemakers, with a passion for creating unique, hand-crafted wines.
Our family vineyard, Château De La Cômbe, is a small, boutique vineyard in Provence. Determined to make exceptional reds and whites in a region renowned for its rosés, we spent years lovingly restoring the chateau and estate, rebuilding the winemaking cave with state-of-the-art equipment and re-planting and tending to the vines. It wasn’t long before our organic wines began winning international awards – a testament to quality winemaking in Provence.
Eager to share our wines with the world, we partnered with like-minded, family-owned and boutique wineries to bring our rare and wonderful wines to you at 56 West Smithfield, without costly intermediaries.

A Community of Winemakers
Our wine list is small but refined, with each wine chosen specifically for its unique character and wonderful flavour profile. We currently work with ten wineries, with more winemakers joining our team all the time. When we’re not busy during the winemaking season, we regularly visit small wineries all over the world in search of special wines that are true to their terroirs.
As our own importers, we’re able to offer customers wonderful wines at great prices. All of the wines are sold at their original, local winery prices at the shop and online, with a £5 corkage fee for wines enjoyed at the bar and lounge.
56 West Smithfield is a great place to relax, explore and enjoy a selection of top wines from our brilliant community of winemakers. Whether you decide to grab a glass in the bar, sink into one of our big, comfy sofas with a bottle in the lounge, or join us for a wine tasting in our traditional tasting room, we’re sure your first visit won’t be your last.
